Evonik has commissioned a new plant for its AEROSILĀ® Easy-to-Disperse family of silicas at its Rheinfelden site in Germany. According to Evonik, the capacity expansion will strengthen global availability for the company’s silica and marks the next step in providing eco-friendly solutions to the paint and coatings sector.
Evonik says the AEROSILĀ® E2D fumed silica products offer dispersibility, which simplifies and increases the efficiency of the paint and coating manufacturing process. Traditionally, the dispersion of rheology additives such as fumed silica has been an energy- and time-intensive process. This technology reduces this step to a single operation.

According to Evonik, the new plant is part of its continued investment in coating and ink additives, with a particular focus on the development of environmentally friendly and sustainable products.
