2023 Webinar Schedule
December 5 | ACA Member Webinar: State Affairs Network Update for Kentucky, Massachusetts & New Jersey
All ACA members are invited to to participate in the State Affairs Network Fall virtual meeting covering Kentucky, Massachusetts & New Jersey. This free, web-based meeting will focus on priority issues across the state, including PFAS, chemicals management, pakaging, extended user responsibility initiatives, and other topical updates from ACA’s lobbyists and ACA Government Affairs staff. At this time of year, many legislatures have adjourned and an update on the legislative session will be provided as well as an outlook for the 2024 session.
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing instructions for joining the webinar.
January 18 | ACA Member Webinar: Global Initiatives and Policy Positions – A World Coatings Council Update
This free webinar will provide an update on activities at the World Coatings Council (WCC), which works to improve communication and coordinate policy on matters of international concern to the paint and printing inks industry. The webinar will introduce the World Coatings Council, provide an overview of the global initiatives in which engages and monitors, and share its top policy positions on topics including chemicals management, microplastics, marine coatings, transportation, and sustainability.
The webinar will be led by ACA’s Heidi McAuliffe, Katherine Berry, Rhett Cash, and Riaz Zaman.
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing instructions for joining the webinar.
January 25 | ACA Member Webinar: VOC Update – U.S. Regulatory Landscape for Coatings
This free webinar will provide an overview of key federal, state, and local volatile organic compound (VOC) regulations affecting the paint and coatings industry. The webinar will address a variety of coatings VOC regulations, including those germane to aerosol coatings, AIM coatings, industrial adhesives and sealants, consumer products, auto-refinish coatings, and marine and pleasure craft coatings.
The webinar will be led by ACA’s Rhett Cash, counsel.
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing instructions for joining the webinar.
February 1 | ACA Member Webinar: New Developments in Emulsion and Dispersion Stability Analysis
This free webinar will address the latest advances in analysis of emulsion and dispersion stability. Instruments using optical scanning methods for stability analysis of emulsions and dispersions have been available for the past 25 years but previously were not capable of true particle size analysis, since they generally operated with only a single-wavelength light source. This webinar will introduce a new optical scanning capability whereby the same sample can be tested with two different wavelengths of light — both near-infrared and near-ultraviolet — which demonstrates higher sensitivity to smaller particles. This technological development yields more accurate particle size distribution, benefiting coatings. The webinar will also introduce a new and unique capability for fully automated freeze-and-thaw emulsion and dispersion stability analysis experiments, responding coatings development for specific extended temperature-range environments.
The webinar will be led by Paul Simutis, Technical Service & Applications Manager at DataPhysics Instruments USA Corp.
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing instructions for joining the webinar.
February 29 | ACA Member Webinar: Previewing the Upcoming U.S. Market Analysis for the Paint and Coatings Industry
This free webinar will preview the upcoming U.S. Market Analysis for the Paint and Coatings Industry, 2023-2028, which is being prepared for ACA by the ChemQuest Group for publication and purchase in Spring 2024. This leading industry market study features extensive coverage of the Architectural, OEM, and Special Purpose Coatings sectors, including analysis and market dynamics; end-use markets; economic and technology influences; key buying factors; as well as market forecasts. Notably, new chapters will explore Coil, Powder Coatings, and complement the report’s New Technology Developments and Market Opportunities, Raw Material Feedstocks’ Dynamics and Trends, Regulatory Overview and Outlook, and Global M&A Activity chapters. Webinar attendees will learn the scale of what the report offers and how they can utilize its insight for strategic business planning.

March 14 | ACA Member Webinar: Getting Products to Market Faster with AI/Machine Learning
This free webinar will address the challenges and pitfalls that are often encountered when introducing Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) into the laboratory environment. While AI/ML is changing the world with wide-ranging applications across industries, pressing concerns about its usage in a rigorous scientific environment remain. There is also a great opportunity to offer scientists an empowering set of tools for working with increasingly complex, often high dimensional, data associated with the coatings industry.
This webinar will cover those considerations along with the journey and underlying principles that need to be adhered to leverage AI/ML to help support achieving faster discoveries. Notably, the webinar will share real-world examples in the coatings and materials industry, as well as the ideal path to harness AI/ML into an insightful and productive tool.
The webinar will be led by Jonathan Welch, head of Data Science, Albert Invent.
