2022 Webinar Schedule

February 3 | ACA Webinar: Global Cool Cities Alliance

This free webinar will provide an introduction to the Global Cool Cities Alliance (GCCA), which launched in 2010 to accelerate a world-wide transition to cooler, healthier cities. Its mission is to advance urban heat island mitigation policies and programs to promote more efficient and comfortable buildings, healthier and more resilient cities, and to lessen some of the warming effects of climate change through global cooling. These goals are achieved by increasing the solar reflectance of urban surfaces such as roofs and roads. This webinar will address how GCCA develops partnerships with cities and other stakeholders to give them the tools and support they need to identify successful policies and programs and connect with experts and partners to help with implementation. Notably, GCAA also works with companies and governments to help grow new markets for technologies and materials.

The webinar will be led by Maria Koetter, Executive Director, Global Cool Cities Alliance.

February 16 | ACA Webinar: Update on Paint Thinners and Multipurpose Solvent Regulations

This free webinar will address the various rules, requirements, and compliance challenges related to paint thinner and multipurpose solvent VOC regulations that industry faces. Many states and local districts have paint thinner and multipurpose solvent VOC regulations in place, including the California Air Resources Board’s Consumer Product Regulations, which have been revised several times and adopted by numerous states. California’s South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) also adopted its own regulation, Rule 1143: Consumer Paint Thinner and Multi-purpose Solvents. The webinar will cover the myriad regulatory and compliance requirements, recent enforcement actions, and provide an opportunity for questions and answers.

The webinar will be led by Doug Raymond of Raymond Regulatory Resources (3R), LLC.

March 24 | ACA Webinar: NOAA Perspective on Urban VOC Emissions

This free webinar will review recent National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) research in Los Angeles on urban volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions from consumer and industrial products — termed volatile chemical products (VCPs) — that includes coatings, adhesives, and consumer products. NOAA’s assessment is that these products are another source of ozone precursors, especially since motor vehicle VOC emissions have decreased over the last few decades. Using advancements in VOC instrumentation, NOAA finds that VCP emissions are ubiquitous in urban regions and can be identified via unique VOC fingerprints. The webinar will present NOAA’s work conducted in New York and other major U.S. cities to understand the prevalence of VCPs in urban air, and the extent to which these compounds contribute to urban ozone.

The webinar will be led by Dr. Matthew M. Coggon, Research Scientist II, NOAA Chemical Sciences Laboratory.
