On March 18 and 19, the European Coatings Show Conference will bring together prominent specialists from around the world to offer insights into the latest research results. Offered in conjunction with the European Coatings Show, March 19–21, the event will be held at Exhibition Centre Nuremberg, in Nuremberg, Germany. With a total of 144 presentations, the conference will provide a forum for scientific institutes and universities to share information on advances in the industry, and will provide an opportunity for coatings professionals to network with recognized industry experts.
Ten pre-conference tutorials will be held on March 17, prior to the opening of the European Coatings Show Conference. These optional courses will provide basic knowledge on the formulation of different paints and coatings, offering initial insights into trends such as functionality and environmental protection.
Presentations to be given at the conference cover a wide range of topics, spanning the industry production value chain. The presentations are divided into 24 thematic sessions. Included in the topics to be addressed are: science today—coatings tomorrow, pigments, powder coatings, waterborne coatings, roof and façade paints, printing inks, protective coatings, testing and measuring, architectural coatings, and TiO2 and opacifiers.
The European Coatings Show Conference will kick off with the plenary session, featuring a keynote presentation by Professor Markus Antonietti, managing director at the Max Planck Institute for Colloids and Interfaces. Antonietti will discuss the latest approaches and processes for the manufacture of monomers, solvents, plasticizers, and hardenable oligomer systems from wood-like waste products. He will consider the life cycle from the perspective of sustainability, and will explain low-cost methods of extending such by-products as bioethanol, lignin, and sugar for the needs of the coatings industry. The plenary session will also include the presentation of the European Coatings Award for the best paper submitted to the conference.
Following an intensive first day at the conference, attendees are invited to attend the After Work Reception, which will provide further opportunities for personal dialogue. Participants can interact with the speakers in a relaxed atmosphere and expand their network to include other experts from the coatings industry.
Selected presentations from the conference will be available as live streams. Free recordings will also be available online for those unable to attend the event. For more details on the European Coatings Show Conference, visit www.european-coatings-show.com/conference.
