Coatings Care® — Providing for a Cleaner, Safer, Coatings Industry
Coatings Care® is The Paint and Coatings Industry's Health, Safety, Environmental, and Security Program created by the industry, for the industry. It is a globally recognized program designed to assist industry companies manage their health, safety, environmental, and Security responsibilities. The program teaches companies how to effectively integrate these requirements, while at the same time, implementing sound business strategies that will provide for expansion and market growth. The aim of the Coatings Care® program is to protect worker and community health and safety, the environment, and ensure facility security while offering tangible business value. With improved productivity and enhanced customer relationships, the entire industry prospers. Coatings Care® participants are acknowledged by governmental and environmental agencies as conscientious, responsible, and among the top environmental performers in industry.
Inspired by the technological advances of highly visible, long-lasting products, that meet customer demand for safety, reliability, and environmental protection, Coatings Care® has been created to provide assurances that the industry conducts itself in a manner that is sustainable and ensures the safe selection, handling, use and disposal of chemical components in paint product. Coatings Care® is the signature program for paint and coatings manufacturers that also emphasizes environmental protection in new product development. The program is the framework for companies to address and successfully manage any health, safety, environmental, or security issues and is currently being implemented in countries throughout the world.
The program has 5 codes to direct companies on the health, safety, environmental, and security aspects of product manufacturing, distribution, and community relations. These codes are further defined by Guidance documents: The Transportation and Distribution Guide, Product Stewardship Guide, Manufacturing Management (Volumes 1-3) Guide, Community Responsibility Guide, and the Security Guide. NPCA also periodically releases NPCA technical publications under the banner of Coatings Care® materials. Recent publications include Paint Plant Floor Cleaning, Guide to the Control of Static Electricity, Medical Surveillance, and Exposure Assessment. In addition to all of these resources, other documents are available from NPCA that help Coatings Care® participants address laws and regulations, compliance guidance, industry standards, and technical data.
