Trinseo Completes Solar Panel Installation at Finland Facility

Trinseo completed a solar panel installation of 1,800 solar panel modules at its latex binders manufacturing facility in Hamina, Finland. Working with Finnish electricity supplier Helen Oy, the new solar panels are expected to offset approximately 20% of the site’s power consumption. Trinseo says that the initiative supports the company’s climate change goal to increase its share of electricity from non-fossil sources from 5% to 30% by 2030. Read More…

IMCD Opens New Laboratory in North America

IMCD, a distributor, formulator and provider of specialty chemicals and ingredients has relocated and opened its new IMCD Coatings and Construction Laboratory in Philadelphia, Penn., one of company’s 14 laboratories. The new 6,400 sq. ft. laboratory expands the company’s technical capabilities to now include construction, in addition to its existing capabilities for industrial coatings, decorative paints, and adhesives. Axalta and Solera Partner

Global coatings company Axalta announced a partnership with Solera, a global player in vehicle lifecycle management, where Axalta’s conventional and Fast Cure Low Energy (FCLE) refinish paint systems will be integrated into Solera’s Sustainable Estimatics platform. Axalta says this new partnership will enable its customers to estimate their CO2 emissions per repair, while considering repair methods, paint application process, and drying conditions. Read More…

Covestro Acquires Equity in BioBTX

Covestro announced it has become a shareholder in BioBTX, a company based in the Netherlands that recovers raw materials by recycling plastic waste, then used to produce benzene, toluene, and xylene(s) from organic and mixed plastic waste. BASF Expands in India

BASF's Coatings division announced the expansion of e-coat manufacturing facility at its Mangalore site in India. The company says the expansion is driven by the growing demand for e-coat solutions by local automotive OEM customers in India, as well as customers in the South Asian and ASEAN markets, The site has been in operation since 1996, and it is now BASF’s largest production facility in South Asia. PPG Invests in North America

Bodo Möller Chemie Expands Its Presence in Asia

Bodo Möller Chemie is expanding sales of its products and services in Southeast Asia with branches in Bangkok, Thailand and Hanoi City, Vietnam. According to the company, the new branches focus on automotive construction, electric vehicles, charging infrastructure, battery technology, electronics manufacture and the aerospace industry among other sectors. Brenntag Acquires Quimica Delta

Brenntag has acquired the Mexican chemical distributor Quimica Delta. According to Brenntag, Quimica Delta operates several rail terminals and has access to maritime port infrastructure at Altamira – strategically located as a tollgate for chemicals mainly imported from the United States. The company’s access to tollgates through marine terminals and last mile infrastructure complements and expands the Brenntag Essentials’ “triple” strategy and positioning in the chemicals market in Mexico, per Brentagg.
