In a significant victory for the paint industry, last week, the Washington legislature passed a bill requiring the state Department of Ecology (DOE) to petition the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to reevaluate standards for polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). ACA had vigorously opposed the original bill language, which would have established a complete ban on inadvertent polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in paints and printing inks, effective Jan. 1, 2025.
