PHMSA Plans Modernizing Regulation to Improve Safety & Efficiency

On July 5, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration issued an advance notice of proposed rulemaking on modernizing regulation to improve safety and efficiency (HM-265A). The agency is soliciting stakeholder feedback on initiatives that may modernize the Hazardous Materials Regulations to improve hazmat transportation efficiency, improve transparency and stakeholder engagement, and better accommodate technological innovations. Washington SB 5369 Passed, Limited to Request for US EPA Re-Assessment of PCB Standards

In a significant victory for the paint industry, last week, the Washington legislature passed a bill requiring the state Department of Ecology (DOE) to petition the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to reevaluate standards for polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs).
