Syensqo has opened new microbiology, (eco-)toxicology, and biotechnology laboratories in Lyon, France—its largest microbiology facility to date. The site will serve as a reference center for biodegradation and (eco-)toxicology testing and is intended to support early-stage product development under Syensqo’s Renewable Materials and Biotechnology Growth Platform.

According to Syensqo, the lab is equipped with advanced capabilities and machine learning and will focus on developing biodegradable-by-design solutions for sectors including beauty care, home care, agrochemicals, adhesives, and materials markets. It will also offer services to external customers and partners.

“Our new microbiology lab significantly strengthens our capacity to create safe and biodegradable solutions. With advanced testing methods, digital capabilities, and increased precision and efficiency, we are accelerating the development of sustainable solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers,” said Thomas Canova, head Research and Innovation and head of Renewable Materials and Biotechnology Growth Platform at Syensqo.
