Covestro has secured the ISCC (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) PLUS certification for its site in South Charleston, West Virginia. The site specializes in the production of base polyether polyols and polymer polyols. These materials are used in a range of applications including automotive seating, mattresses, furniture, and more.

The certification follows the successful ISCC PLUS certifications of other major Covestro facilities in the United States, including South Deerfield, Mass., Newark, Ohio, and Baytown, Texas.

“This certification marks another milestone in our journey towards a circular economy and sustainable production,” said Barbara Buck, vice president and site manager of Covestro’s South Charleston facility. “It enables us to offer high performance products that help reduce our customer’s carbon footprint while supporting our strategy of producing in the region for the region.”
