Dispersions for Waterborne Inkjet Coatings
Evonik Coating Additives has introduced a range of four dispersions based on SiO2 or Al2O3 particles, intended for waterborne inkjet ink-receptive coatings. According to Evonik, AERODISP® dispersions enable the levels of dot sharpness and resolution that are critical for high-quality digital printing. To meet various ink and application needs, the portfolio offers both anionic and cationic options, designed to be compatible with many different binders and formulations.

Clearcoats for Collision Repair
PPG has launched two new clearcoats for the U.S. collision repair market. Designed to be easy to use, quick drying, and cost-effective, the company says its PPG Super Value SC300 acrylic urethane clearcoat is available in versions that meet the U.S. EPA National Rule VOC requirements, and the more stringent Rule 2.1 required in states such as California.
PPG DELTRON® NXT DC7020 Premium Glamour Speed Clearcoat is also formulated to meet EPA’s requirements and also designed to deliver fast curing times. According to the company, the product’s accelerated cycle time is intended to help body shops reduce energy consumption.

Cathodic Electrocoating System
Dürr is expanding its modular pre-treatment system, EcoProWet EC, to include cathodic electrocoating. Dürr says its new system is intended for small-to-medium production capacities of up to 30 units per hour, and that its compact design requires less space than conventional continuous systems while allowing for a flexible layout.

Paint + Primer Coatings
Dutch Boy® Paints has launched three paint offerings—Pristine™ Interior Paint + Primer; Pristine™ Exterior Paint + Primer; and Dura Fighter™ Paint + Primer. The company says its Pristine Interior Paint + Primer features include maximum scuff, stain, and mark resistance, and a smooth and elegant finish. According to the company, Pristine Exterior Paint is formulated with the company’s exclusive Rain Rinse Technology, which is intended to naturally wash away dirt and grime, and offers stain blocking and fade resistance. Formulated for professional grade durability, Dura Fighter Paint + Primer is also designed to resist most stains and offer good washability.

Painting Line for Car Bumpers
Trasmetal has introduced an automated painting line for car bumpers and exterior plastic components. The automatic tracking painting line is engineered to handle large parts up to 2200 x 1400 mm with a maximum height of 1600 mm. With a throughput of one skid every 90 seconds, the line operates using 14 high-performance robots. According to Trasmetal, the core of the system is a custom-built skid conveyor, which enables greater production flexibility while optimizing floor space.
