ACA’s Government Affairs Program covers both federal and state issues, utilizing the State Affairs Network as well as our state lobbyists, our federal lobbyists and CoatingsVoice, our grassroots advocacy management system, and PaintPAC, ACA’s Political Action Committee. ACA’s extensive network of government affairs professionals in key states is vital to our ability to respond effectively to regulatory and legislative initiatives that impact the coatings industry.

On November 15, 2021, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) was signed into law. The Build America, Buy America Act (BABA), establishing a domestic content procurement requirement for iron and steel products, manufactured products, and construction materials for infrastructure projects receiving Federal financial assistance, was incorporated into IIJA.

ACA continues to track environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues, including the recently adopted Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Climate-Related Disclosure Rule, California’s (CA) Climate and Corporate Data Accountability Act (SB 253), CA’s Greenhouse gases: climate-related financial risk (SB 261), and other proposals introduced in the states.
