In-Mold Technology
Covestro is expanding global support for Direct Coating in-mold technology, which combines injection molding and polyurethane coating in a single production step. In the new single-step production the molded part is transferred to a second cavity, where a low‑viscosity, two-component polyurethane is applied and cured in‑mold. The company says this integrated approach eliminates conventional painting lines for automotive components, reducing costs and energy use while enabling greater design flexibility, including advanced haptic and visual effects.
