Mustang Features New Matte Clear Film

Mustang purchasers can personalize their car with factory Matte Clear Film, provided by PPG Advanced Surface Technologies. The film is designed to withstand harsh detergents used at hand or touchless car washes, as well as road salt, bird droppings, bug splatter, and asphalt residue.

In May, PPG announced that it will deliver paint and clear film solutions for automotive and industrial customers through PPG Advanced Surface Technologies, a new joint venture formed with entrotech, Inc., a provider of technology-driven film solutions.

The film is available on all Mustang coupe models (EcoBoost, GT, and Dark Horse) and in all factory paint colors, with first deliveries slated to begin in June. It will be available on all Mustang convertible models in the fourth quarter of 2024.

New Emulsion Polymers

Mallard Creek Polymers has introduced three new products to its BarriorPro® emulsion polymers line with BarrierPro 4553, BarrierPro 4554, and BarrierPro 4556. According to the company, the new additions to the line of waterproofing applications provide more blending options to dial in the performance of a membrane system and allow for optimal water resistance, strength, and flexibility at cold temperatures.

The line of BarrierPro also contains crack bridging properties that make them suitable for a range of applications and customization potential that can tailor membrane properties to specific performance requirements.

Porch and Floor Paint + Primer

Dutch Boy Paints has launched its latest Porch & Floor Interior/Exterior Paint and Primer. According to the company, this line offers versatility and simple solutions to elevate both indoor and outdoor living spaces. According to the company, the new line features both a standard porch and floor paint, as well as a skid-resistant option, providing added traction.

The new paint +primer resists cracking, peeling, and scuffing while also including a greater ability to prevent dirt pickup and increased mildew resistance on the surface of the paint finish.

Digital Platform for Bodyshops

Refinish+, from AkzoNobel, is a digital platform that brings the company’s vehicle refinishes digital solutions together in order for body shops to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and increase profitability.

Body shops can compare their performance against performance benchmarks which will allow them to pinpoint desired areas of improvement and address challenges such as paint and material profitability and cycle times, as well as energy and emissions.

AkzoNobel is introducing Refinish+ in phases to customers in North America, Australia, and selected markets in Europe in the first half of 2024.

All-weather Exterior Stains

Benjamin Moore has introduced Woodluxe, a line of all-weather exterior stains and prep products. Made for use on exterior siding, decks, porches, fences, and furniture, Woodluxe’s proprietary formula seals and protects wood from cracking and peeling, while offering fade-resistant color and mildew resistance. Woodluxe can be applied in heat, sun, and humidity and is available in water- and oil-based formulas in varying opacities; with curated colors available in translucent, semi-transparent, and semi-solid opacities, while solid opacities can be tinted in Benjamin Moore colors.

 Flow Meters for Fiberglass Resin

AW-Lake has introduced TRICOR Coriolis Flow Meters that verify accurate amounts of fiberglass resin dispensed during the fabrication of panels, which are molded for doors and windows of motor homes and RV trailers.

One Coriolis meter monitors the amount of four resin colors, and another monitors the catalyst.  Each meter is networked into a multi-drop Modbus network, which is connected to a PLC-based monitoring system that calculates flow for monitoring the resin-to-catalyst ratios in real time.

The flow meters work for similar applications with boats, bathtubs and enclosures, swimming pools, hot tubs, septic and water tanks, surfboards, snow skis, aircraft and automotive carbon fiber, and external door skins.
