Sustainable Powder Coatings

Powdura ECO is Sherwin-Williams General Industrial’s line of sustainably advantaged powder coatings that incorporates up to 25% post-consumer recycled plastic in its resins, designed to offer a solution for decreasing CO2 emissions while maintaining performance. According to the company, the coating is formulated with up to 25% post-consumer recycled plastic and is designed to deliver an estimated 16-20% reduction in carbon emissions when compared to traditional polyester formulas. It can also be customized to meet specific appearance and performance requirements, and can align with third-party certifications such as LEED, GREENGUARD®, and BIFMA Level®.

Latest in Artificial and Natural Weather Testing

Atlas Material Testing Solutions has introduced the Atlas S³T system for accelerated artificial and natural weathering testing. Designed for the Weather-Ometer® Ci4400 and Ci5000 instruments, the Atlas S³T system is designed to make it possible to continuously measure the specific surface temperature of individual samples during live testing. According to the company, the S³T system allows for better reproduction of natural conditions; better control of test parameters; continuous tracing of the specific sample temperature; and investigation of specific sample characteristics. Next-generation Multifunctional Hydrotrope

Nouryon announced the launch of Berol® Nexus surfactant. According to the company, the cosurfactant is a high-performance non-quat hydrotrope with cosurfactant properties for enhanced cleaning and formulated product stability in hard-surface and laundry applications for North America. Available in a 70% concentrated aqueous liquid form, it has a low-color and low-viscosity profile that can be formulated into a variety of cleaning applications. Repair Management Tool for Commercial Body Shops

PPG has launched the PPG AdjustRite® Repair Management tool, part of the PPG AdjustRite commercial estimating system, which was developed to provide enhanced productivity for commercial vehicle repairs. According to the company, the tool is designed to streamline body-shop operations by offering a time-clock system for technicians, automating the tracking of work hours per repair order, and providing a centralized approach to delegate tasks. The tool also allows for the analysis of productivity metrics and efficiency data, and the use of dynamic charts to comprehensively review repair orders and technician activities. Nonmigratory Phosphate Methacrylate

Evonik has launched phosphate methacrylate VISIOMER® HEMA-P 100, a phosphate methacrylate monomer that is nonmigratory. According to the company, HEMA-P is designed to provide transparent flame retardancy, improve adhesion, and reduce corrosion. Evonik says it is also an effective adhesion promoter and anti-corrosive agent that can improve dispersibility and act as a complexing agent. VISIOMER® HEMA-P may be used as a monomer for emulsion and solution polymers, vinyl ester and unsaturated polyester composites, acrylic adhesives, acrylic waterproofing resins, and cast PMMA. Applications include coatings for wood, textiles, and paper; direct-to-metal (DTM) coatings; structural adhesives; waterproofing roofs and parking decks; and architectural cast PMMA.
