Silicone Hull Coating for Newbuilds
Hempel has launched Hempaguard NB, a silicone hull coating intended specifically for new-build vessels. Hempel states that Hempaguard NB is designed to withstand exposure to the atmospheric conditions of construction, unlike conventional silicone products that require controlled environments. This reportedly allows it to minimize the delays and additional costs associated with coatings applied either pre-delivery or in post-delivery dry dockings.

Polyphthalamide for High-voltage Connectors
BASF has added Ultramid® Advanced N3U42G6 to its polyphthalamide (PPA) portfolio. This polyamide 9T, with a non-halogenated flame retardant, is designed to minimize electrocorrosion of metal contacts in electric and electronics (E&E) parts for e-mobility. According to BASF, the PPA increases the safety and durability of high-voltage connectors in applications such as inverters, DC-DC converters, and batteries of electric cars. Ultramid® Advanced N grade is available either uncolored with UL-certified masterbatches or pre-colored with high color stability for easy processing and color retention after heat aging, according to the company.

Silicone for Power Plant Generators
WACKER has introduced ELASTOSIL® N 9189, an electrically conductive silicone rubber for use in power plant generators. Developed for sealing and bonding applications, WACKER says the silicone rubber is designed to optimize the electrical field and potential distribution in the stator, thereby protecting against operational damage. The tin-free, non-sag compound is formulated to adhere to many materials without special pretreatment.

Waterborne Floor Finish
Gemini Industries, Inc. has launched Glitsa® IdroClear™, a clear, single-component, waterborne floor finish for residential applications. The VOC-compliant single-component formulation is intended to simplify the application process by eliminating the need for a crosslinker to achieve a scratch- and scuff-resistant finish. Instead, Gemini says IdroClear depends on air oxidation to develop crosslinking. The floor finish can be used on properly prepared natural and stained wood floor surfaces as a self-sealing topcoat.
