Non-Tin Catalysts
February 2016
By John Florio, Ravi Ravichandran
Crosslinkable organosilane systems can be based on a variety of chemistries and can be utilized for a variety of applications. Selecting a proper catalyst is a critical step in the formulating process of organosilane systems.
Along with the increasing need to replace tin catalysts for regulatory reasons, some tin catalyzed organosilane systems lack activity and performance properties.
A new series of tin-free compounds has been developed for the catalysis of crosslinkable silane- terminated polymer systems. Each of the developed catalysts demonstrates superior activity with different organosilane chemistries used for a variety of applications.
