Aqueous Dispersions for Ultraviolet Light Curable Coatings

November 1996

Vol. 68, No. 862

By Z. Jeffrey Wang, Jo Ann Arceneaux, Jodi Hall

Aqueous dispersions of ultraviolet light (UV) curable resins have been prepared and evaluated. The physical and rheological properties of these dispersions have been determined, and the performance of these dispersions in coating systems has been studied. Coatings based on these dispersions have faster UV cure speed, better surface hardness, and better flexibility compared with coatings based on undispersed resins.
