CARB’s Suggested Control Measure for AIM Coatings
Presenter: David Darling, vice president, ACA Health, Safety, and Environmental Affairs

This webinar will provide an update on the California Air Resources Board’s (CARB) development of a new Suggested Control Measure (SCM) for Architectural and Industrial Maintenance (AIM) coatings. Once complete, California Air Districts and the Ozone Transport Commission (OTC) states will utilize the SCM to implement lower volatile organic compound (VOC) regulations for AIM coatings; the SCM will also be utilized for development of Green Building standards. The webinar will review CARB’s current proposal, schedule for adoption, and key ACA advocacy efforts.

Sustainability Update

TSCA Update

Cleaning Solvent and Paint Thinner Regulations

This webinar will provide an overview of cleaning solvent volatile organic compound (VOC) regulations at the federal, state and local level. Cleaning solvents include solvents used to clean objects before painting; spray guns and lines; and coatings, ink, resin, and adhesive manufacturing equipment. The webinar will also address paint thinner VOC regulations.

Big Data Update

This webinar will provide an overview of the ACA “Big Data” project, a web-based tool to provide an early indication of adverse information on “chemicals of concern” used by the paint and coatings industry. ACA STEM Education Outreach Program

This webinar will provide an overview of ACA’s Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education outreach program for middle school students. As an industry deeply rooted in polymer science and chemistry, ACA, in partnership with Young Minds Inspired, developed its STEM curriculum. The webinar will introduce the program, its components, and its initial distribution, as well as how the program can be incorporated into current STEM outreach efforts or used to start new ones.
