December 2, 2019
Sika has agreed to acquire Adeplast SA, a manufacturer of mortars and thermal insulation solutions in Romania. Adeplast generates sales of CHF120 million with a workforce of 460 employees. The transaction is subject to clearance by anti-trust authorities.
According to Sika, the acquisition will significantly strengthen the company’s position in the local construction chemicals market and extend its manufacturing footprint. Adeplast is headquartered in Ploiești, 70 km north of Bucharest, and operates four production plants, which provide a nationwide coverage of Romania and reportedly offers the potential to serve neighboring countries.
Sika said that the strategically located facilities will also enable it to realize efficiency gains in logistics and warehousing as well as to further enhance its ability to serve customers with fast supply and excellent product availability. With the acquisition, Sika Romania will strengthen its product portfolio for the Target Market Building Finishing and gain access to Adeplast’s large, well-established network of distributors, the company stated.
“The improved access to the distribution channel will offer exciting cross-selling opportunities, increase our market penetration, and drive the continued growth of both companies,” said Ivo Schädler, regional manager EMEA.
