Covestro recently started the production of Naphthylen-Diisocyanate (NDI) for Vulkollan® at a newly built plant in Map Ta Phut, Thailand. The investment is one of several of Covestro’s investments into cast polyurethane raw materials.

“We believe in the growth of the cast elastomers market and want to meet the increasing demand,” said Sucheta Govil, chief commercial officer at Covestro.

The new plant in Thailand now employs more than 25 people. The elastomers produced from the raw material are suitable for a diverse range of applications, including forklift wheels, roller coaster wheels, couplings and seals for the engineering industry. Covestro broke ground for the plant in late 2020.
