ASTM to Compile Printing Ink Vehicle Definitions

Contact: Chris Hobson Tuesday, February 07, 2012

The first compilation of definitions for terms commonly used in the printing ink vehicle industry has been proposed by ASTM International. ASTM WK35704, Terminology for Printing Ink Vehicles and Related Materials, is being developed by ASTM International Committee D01 on Paint and Related Coatings, Materials, and Applications.

According to the organization, the proposed standard will allow suppliers and users to use terms without any confusion. Once it has been approved, the standard will primarily be used by manufacturers of resins, ink oils, alkyds, vehicles, and printing inks.

The organization welcomes participation in the development of its standards. For more information on becoming an ASTM member, visit www.astm.org/JOIN.
