NPCA/FSCT to Adopt a New Name: American Coatings Association

On Jan. 1, 2010, the National Paint and Coatings Association (NPCA/FSCT) will change its name to the American Coatings Association (ACA). The change marks the culmination of the merger between the National Paint and Coatings Association and the Federation of Societies for Coatings Technology, which was approved in 2008 and finalized in 2009.
The NPCA/FSCT Board of Directors approved the identity change in October, after a small task force of Board members and staff developed the proposal. In addition to the new name, the organization has also adopted a new logo, reminiscent of the color wheel. The image is intended to evoke the organization's combined mission and bring to mind the science involved in manufacturing, research and development of the industry's products, as well as the products themselves.
According to NPCA/FSCT President Andy Doyle, "By adopting the name, American Coatings Association, we will retire the two historically distinct identities associated with NPCA and FSCT. As the American Coatings Association, we will move forward in the future as one united organization capable of serving all members of our industry while continuing our commitment to environmental protection, product stewardship, and science and technology."
In moving forward, the association will continue serving technical and sales and marketing professionals through education and training, and also continue to provide regulatory, legislative and market insight services. Additionally, CoatingsTech magazine will be expanded to incorporate substantive, new content in January 2010, Coatings Today e-newsletter will continue its distribution to more than 14,000 industry members, the Journal of Coatings Technology and Research will be published six times a year, and a new website will be launched in 2010.
Other exciting opportunities for 2010 include numerous virtual learning conferences, a new round of conferences in the Advancements in Coatings Series, and the much-anticipated American Coatings Show and Conference, slated for April 12-15 in Charlotte, N.C.
Through its renewed identity, the association remains committed to serving both industry professionals and corporate members of the industry as the American Coatings Association.
