Course Description

ACA Staff will give a detailed background on the emergence of new green building standard and codes, such as the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification system, the International Green Construction Code, and the California Green Building Standards Code. In addition, staff will highlight the potential impact these ever-changing standards will have on the paint and coatings industry as they continue to drive down VOC limits faster than architectural and industrial maintenance regulations. This VLC will provide information for paint and coatings companies on the scope, applicability, and indoor air quality requirements of emerging green building standards and codes affecting the industry.

Target Audience

Representatives from architectural paint and coatings manufacturers that need to comply with green building codes or that may wish to specify products for green building construction projects.

Course Instructor

As Counsel in the Government Affairs Division at the American Coatings Association, Tim Serie works on coatings manufacturing environmental compliance, architectural coatings regulations, and green building issues. Tim received his Juris Doctor from the Washington College of Law at American University and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Saint John’s University.
