CHIEF CHEMIST

National manufacturer of architectural and industrial coatings seeks Chief Chemist for development laboratory. Successful candidate will have a degree in chemistry with at least 10 years relevant experience, including management in the coatings industry. Experience with broad range of architectural, general industrial, and specialty coatings desired; familiarity with emerging technologies and ISO quality system is a plus. SENIOR R&D CHEMIST

Poloplaz is a U.S. based privately owned company leader manufacturer of coatings for the hardwood floor industry. Poloplaz has supplied the residential, commercial, and sport wood floor industry since 1961. Poloplaz currently has a job opening for a Senior R&D Chemist.

Responsibilities:

  • Independently engineering new coatings formulations and taking them from the lab to production and to commercial success.
  • Cost analysis of current and new formulas.
  • Process troubleshooting and optimization.
  • Quality control steward.
  • Reporting on a timely manner projects undertaken.
  • Customer support.
  • Maintaining a legible and up to date lab notebook.

Qualifications:

  • BS technical degree required preferably chemical engineering or related field, masters preferred.
  • 4+ years of hands on experience formulating liquid coatings.

FOCUS/OBJECTIVE:

The role is a Technical Leader in an R&D organization with a deep understanding of various chemical formulations and processing systems, particularly liquid coatings and lineal capping technologies. Associate should be able to identify and develop new chemical materials and systems with internal and external suppliers. Extensive and savvy experimental skills are needed. Experience in working with manufacturing on commercialization of new technologies and design for manufacturability is essential. Associate should be able to define customer requirements for coating systems for windows and doors over time. Supervisory experience is helpful to lead a small team of technical experts.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identification of technologies to explore for chemical fabrication processes.
  • Explore internal development and external partners.
  • Modification of chemical systems for windows and doors.
  • Experimental techniques to deliver optimum chemical systems in terms of customer requirements, cost and quality.
  • Commercialization of chemical systems with manufacturing

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS technical degree required preferably chemical engineering or related field, masters preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in chemical processing and commercialization.

Raabe Company is looking for a Sales & Marketing Manager. This person will manage sales and marketing programs for Raabe's Custom Color Match business by (1) identifying and closing sales targets and significantly growing sales and (2) mentoring the sales representative team to grow and close new business.

Responsibilities
  • Develop market size and key requirements in the U.S./Canada for Custom Color touch-up paint
  • Review market analyses to determine market and customer requirements, price schedules, and discount programs
  • Assist other departments to prepare marketing and advertising materials and technical publications
  • Identify skills and staffing needs for the sales team
  • Coordinates development of sales objectives, strategies, advertising and promotional programs, and ensures execution
  • Directs channel development activity and coordinates sales distribution by establishing sales territories, quotas and goals
  • Analyzes and prepares sales reports showing volume, potential sales, key issues and proposed actions
Qualifications
  • Must have previous Sales and Marketing Management experience, preferably in paint and coatings industry
  • Proven track record in building and maintaining effective sales teams
  • Proactive, aggressive and effective sales identification and sales closure skills
  • Ability to generate effective long-term customer relationships with effective sales negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Travel of at least 50% of the time is required
